The Washington Examiner reports, that stores will only be allowed to give out compostable or recycled paper pre-checkout bags under SB 1046. With this action, the state becomes the first in the country to get rid of such bags over time, potentially setting the stage for other states to follow suit. By January 1, 2025, stores must comply with the new law.
